14 months and many Zoom rehearsals later, RYO was finally able to welcome back its members in person for a full live rehearsal in June 2021; it was nice to have the full orchestra together at last. Although strange at first, over the following weeks we all made the adjustment back to watching a conductor from following a click-track, which is definitely easier said than done!
With the return of in person rehearsals also came the return of our notorious break-time games, this time taking the form of strangely competitive games of Splat.
We worked on four pieces in preparation for a small informal performance which, unfortunately, had to be postponed to a later date. However, we were still able to celebrate our achievements with a full recording of what would have been the concert, a nice reminder of all the hard work we all put in over a tough year. With lessons learned and resilience gained, RYO is excited to push forward to a new year of opportunity.
